GREENSBORO, N.C. - 2011 FedExCup champion Bill Haas has joined the Wyndham Championship field, it was announced today.  Haas joins a field that already includes 2012 U.S. Open Champion and defending Wyndham winner Webb Simpson and Jason Dufner.  The 73rd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 13-19, 2012.

With his victory in the 2011 TOUR Championship, Haas clinched last year's FedExCup championship by just 15 points over 2011 Wyndham winner and fellow Wake Forest University alumnus Simpson creating a 1-2 FedExCup finish for Demon Deacon alumni.  In his distinguished Wake Forest career, Haas was the 2001 ACC rookie of the year, a two-time ACC player of the year and a four-time All-ACC selection.

"It's nice to have the reigning FedExCup champion back in our field," tournament director Mark Brazil said.  "Last year, (2010 FedExCup winner) Jim Furyk played here and finished tied for ninth; it's always a big deal to have the reigning FedExCup champion in your field, and for us to have it two years in a row says a lot about the Wyndham Championship."

Haas is a four-time PGA TOUR winner including the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles earlier this year.  He is 22nd in the current FedExCup point standings and 26th in the Official World Golf Rankings.  Haas has competed in the Wyndham seven times including each of the last six tournaments; his best finish here came in 2009 when he finished tied for 10th. His father, Jay, played in the Wyndham 20 times while his uncle, Jerry, played here three times. Haas was born in Charlotte and lives in Greenville, S.C.

Contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the seventh-oldest event on the PGA TOUR.  Tickets will be available soon at www.wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office.  The tournament thanks title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide, presenting sponsor BB&T and Premier Partners, Cadillac, Harris Teeter, McConnell Golf, Sunbrella®, Technology Concepts & Design, Inc. and VF Corporation for their continued support.  Additional tournament information, including ticket packages and sponsorship information, is available at www.wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office at (336) 379-1570.  For more information about Wyndham Worldwide, please visit www.wyndhamworldwide.com
