Greensboro, NC -- Wyndham Championship officials announced this year's honorary chairs Monday.
Still making history in the Triad, Shirley and her husband, former N.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice, Henry Frye will serve as the event's 2012 honorary co-chairs.
As chairs, the Fryes will be ambassadors for the PGA Tour event. This is the first time Wyndham has elected co-chairs.
Shirley Frye graduated from NC A&T and then from Syracuse University with a Master's degree in special education. She is a former member of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and former vice president of community relations here at WFMY.
Henry Frye also graduated from NC A&T; he later became the first African-American to complete a full law degree from the University of North Carolina, graduating with honors. He later became the first African-American Chief Justice in 1999.
They will join a list of former honorary chairmen that includes Louis DeJoy, Chairman and CEO of New Breed Logistics, and Kelly S. King, Chairman and CEO of BB&T in Winston Salem.
The Wyndham Championship, in its 73rd year, is set for August 13-19.
