Osaka, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Third-seeded Samantha Stosur advanced to
the semifinals of the Japan Women's Open on Friday.
Stosur, the 2009 Osaka champ and 2011 runner-up. was a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 winner
over Japan's Misaki Doi.
Next up for Stosur will be American and No. 6 seed Madison Keys, who defeated
China's Zheng Jie 6-3, 6-1 on the hardcourts at Utsubo Tennis Center.
Fifth-seeded Canadian Eugenie Bouchard rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph
over Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. Her semifinal opponent will be Japan's
Kurumi Nara, a 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-1 winner over Slovenian Polona Hercog.
