Geneva, Switzerland (Sports Network) - The husband of former world No. 1 women's tennis star Martina Hingis has accused his wife and mother-in-law of assaulting him.

Thibault Hutin left Switzerland fearing for his life, according to the Blick daily newspaper.

The 27-year-old filed a complaint following an incident at the couple's apartment in the village of Feusisberg.

Hutin told Blick that his wife, the recent Tennis Hall of Fame inductee Hingis, her mother, Melanie Molitor, and her mother's boyfriend, Mario Widmer, had "beaten and scratched" him following a dispute.

The French equestrian Hutin claims the boyfriend also struck him in the head with a DVD player, and added that he was so "terrified" he fled to Paris.

The 32-year-old Hingis recently returned to the tennis courts to play doubles after six years of retirement.

She was originally set to take part in this week's Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, but withdrew for "personal reasons" earlier this month.
