Key Biscayne, FL (Sports Network) - Top seed Novak Djokovic continued his
quest for a third straight Sony Open championship with a third-round victory
over India's Somdev Devvarman.
The Serbian Djokovic ran his winning streak to 14 matches at this event with a
6-2, 6-4 decision Sunday afternoon. Djokovic hasn't lost to a player ranked
outside the top 100 since 2010 at Belgrade and is trying for his fourth title
at this tournament.
Third-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer moved into the round-of-16 with a 6-1, 7-5
win over 32nd-seeded Italian Fabio Fognini.
Seventh seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia was a 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 victor over
26th seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa.
Also Sunday, 11th seed Gilles Simon of France disposed of Slovenia's Grega
Zemlja, 6-4, 6-4; and 13th seed Kei Nishikori of Japan downed Belgium's Xavier
Malisse, 6-2, 7-5.
Germany's Tommy Haas, the No. 15 seed, defeated 19th-seeded Ukrainian Alexandr
Dolgopolov, 6-3, 6-2.
