Prague, Czech Republic (Sports Network) - On a day when she withdrew from the WTA Championships, it was announced that Petra Kvitova would lead the reigning champion Czech Republic in next week's Fed Cup final against visiting Serbia.

The 2011 Wimbledon champion Kvitova pulled out of the WTA Championships due to a viral illness that slowed her in a round-robin loss against this year's Wimbledon runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska in Istanbul on Tuesday. Kvitova was the reigning champion at the prestigious season-ending event.

Czech captain Petra Pala selected the world No. 6 Kvitova, 17th-ranked Lucie Safarova, and doubles specialists Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka, who played in this year's U.S. Open and Olympic finals.

Team Serbia, guided by Dejan Vranes, will counter with former world No. 1s Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, as well as Bojana Jovanovski and Aleksandra Krunic.

The Czechs and Serbs will square off in a best-of-five affair on an indoor hardcourt at Prague's O2 Arena. The two nations have never met in Fed Cup play.

The Czech Republic beat Russia in last year's final in Moscow to secure its first championship since the former Czechoslovakia, a five-time Fed Cup champ, split in 1993.
