Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Tommy Heinemann scored the equalizer in stoppage time on Sunday as the Vancouver Whitecaps battled back from two goals down to salvage a point in a 2-2 draw with Chivas USA at BC Place.

Coming off an impressive 3-2 result at home against the New York Red Bulls last week, the Goats got off the mark just three minutes in when Torres corralled a poor defensive header by Vancouver's Andy O'Brien and volleyed it home with an outstanding overhead strike from just inside the box.

The visitors made it 2-0 in the 14th minute when Chivas midfielder Edgar Mejia whipped a cross into the box and Torres, who found himself alone in the area, nodded it into the bottom left corner.

Vancouver began its comeback bid four minutes after the hour mark when Gershon Koffie collected a poor clearance by Chivas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy and ripped a shot from 40 yards out that Kennedy got a piece of, but not enough as it slipped into the net to bring the hosts within one.

The Whitecaps continued to attack in waves down the stretch and finally got a deserved equalizer when Kekuta Manneh sent a deep cross into the area from the left flank. Erik Hurtado was there to head it back across the face of goal and Heinemann was left alone in front to easily knock it home and put the sides back on level terms.

The result puts an end to a two-match losing streak for Vancouver, and the club improves to 37 points, just two behind Portland for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Chivas moves to 22 points on the campaign, but still sits in the cellar of the West. .
