Harrison, NJ (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York announced Thursday that the
club has signed defender Ibrahim Sekagya, pending the receipt of his P-1 Visa
and International Transfer Certificate.
Sekagya mainly featured in the center of defense for New York's sister club,
Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Bundesliga. He featured in a total of 165
games for Salzburg and scored six goals.
"We are delighted to sign Ibrahim and we are sure his experience will
strengthen our options in defense," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy
Roxburgh. "He was well respected and liked by our colleagues at Red Bull
Salzburg and we are confident he can play a role in our team as we enter into
the second half of our regular season."
The 32-year-old was a member of the Uganda national team, earning 26 caps
before his retirement from international soccer.
