Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto FC announced Tuesday that the club has
signed striker Jeremy Brockie and defender Steven Caldwell on loan deals.
Brockie, 25, joins TFC after spending the past season with Wellington Phoenix
of the Hyundai A-League. The New Zealand international appeared in 24 matches
and scored 16 goals to finish second in league scoring.
"We're excited to have Jeremy join us on loan," said Toronto FC President and
General Manager Kevin Payne. "Ryan (Nelsen) has played with him on the All
Whites and speaks very highly of him. He'll provide another option in an
attacking position and if he can continue his form from the last A-League
season we'll be happy indeed."
Caldwell, 32, joins the club after spending the last two seasons with
Birmingham City of England's Championship Division. He made 90 appearances and
scored two goals in all competitions for the club.
"We're pleased that Steven has agreed to join us on loan until July," Payne
said in a statement. "He's a proven defender with great experience. We expect
him to help shore up our defense."
