Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Five unanswered goals between the first
and second periods pushed the Vancouver Canucks past the Edmonton Oilers, 6-2,
and provided head coach John Tortorella with his first win with the club.
Brad Richardson's short-handed goal began the run, with Dan Hamhuis, Jannik
Hansen, Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler each following with scores in succession
for Vancouver, which was coming off a 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks.
Jason Garrison added a third period goal and Robert Luongo saved 21-of-23
shots in the victory.
The Oilers, 0-2 for the first time since 1998-99, saw Devan Dubnyk give up
five goals on 31 shots. Edmonton is winless in its last six visits to
Jeff Petry and Boyd Gordon had tallies in the setback.
