defense, agreeing to terms on a one-year, $700,000 contract with Mike
The 31-year-old Komisarek was recently bought out by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"Mike faced different circumstances and expectations in Toronto than he will
in Carolina, and we feel that he has a better chance to succeed with our
team," said general manager Jim Rutherford. "He adds size, physicality and
leadership qualities to our defensive corps, and is a good penalty killer."
Komisarek played in just four games with Toronto during the shortened 2013
