Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - While defending champion Los Angeles has become well-versed in dealing with one-goal contests this postseason, Chicago is the team which has found a formula for winning those tight games. Marian Hossa's tally late in the middle period was the game winner, sending the Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Kings in Saturday's Game 1 of the Western Conference finals from United Center. Patrick Sharp registered the other goal for the Blackhawks, who were coming off an emotional 2-1 overtime victory to dispatch the rival Red Wings in a Game 7 on Wednesday. Corey Crawford needed to make just 21 saves to record his ninth win of these playoffs. Justin Williams potted the lone score for the Kings, who fell to 1-4 in their last five games decided by the slimmest of margins. The lone victory in the bunch -- a 2-1 decision in Game 7 over San Jose this past Tuesday -- landed the visitors in the conference finals for the second consecutive season. Jonathan Quick held up well in defeat, stopping 34 shots. This best-of-seven set continues on Sunday night in Chicago.

Final Score: Boston 3, Pittsburgh 0

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Tuukka Rask stopped all 29 shots he faced for his first career playoff shutout, while David Krejci notched a pair of goals to send the Boston Bruins to a 3-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals from CONSOL Energy Center. Nathan Horton added a goal and the primary assist on Krejci's two markers for the Bruins, who produced the franchise's first postseason whitewash on the road since a 4-0 result in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals at Vancouver nearly two years ago. Tomas Vokoun suffered the loss despite making 27 saves for the Penguins, who rolled into the semifinal round thanks to a five-game decision over the Ottawa Senators. Pittsburgh, which hadn't been held scoreless in any contest since February of 2012, will look to even the series at home in Game 2 on Monday.
