Crosby exited Saturday's game against the New York Islanders early in the
first period after being struck in the face by a shot from teammate Brooks
The incident occurred just 1:28 into the matchup, with Orpik's long drive from
the left point deflecting off the stick of an Islanders' player and hitting
Crosby in his mouth. The Penguins' captain did leave the ice under his own
power, but the team announced during the first intermission that he will not
Crosby leads the NHL with 41 assists and 56 points this season, while his
plus-26 rating is second only to teammate Chris Kunitz for tops in the league.
Pittsburgh entered Saturday's tilt atop the NHL with 54 points and is riding a
14-game winning streak.
