Carolina Panthers Announce Roster Moves

Charlotte, N.C.--The Carolina Panthers have placed safety Sherrod Martin and defensive end Antwan Applewhite on injured reserve and released offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges, the team announced today.

To fill the open roster spots, the Panthers have signed running back Armond Smith and offensive lineman Thomas Austin to the active roster from the practice squad and have signed defensive end Mario Addison from Washington's practice squad.

Addison, 6-3 and 257 pounds, entered the NFL in 2011 from Troy as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Chicago Bears.

He spent time with Chicago, Indianapolis and Washington during his career. He has played in 14 career games, including eight this season split between Indianapolis and Washington.

Guard Dominic Alford and cornerback Kendrick Burney have been signed to the Panthers practice squad.
