Charlotte, N.C.--Quarterback Cam Newton has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl squad, the Carolina Panthers announced Monday.
Newton replaces Eli Manning of the New York Giants, who advanced to Super Bowl XLVI.
The No. 1 overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, Newton completed 310-of-517 passes for 4,051 yards - the most by a rookie in NFL history - and 21 touchdowns with 17 interceptions this season to post an 84.5 quarterback rating.
Newton added 706 rushing yards to become the first player in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for at least 500 yards in a single season.
His 14 rushing touchdowns are the most ever by a
quarterback in a single season.
