Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Denver Broncos may be losing a key member of their defense for the first four games of the 2013 season.

According to the Denver Post, linebacker Von Miller is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL drug policy. The case is currently under appeal.

Miller's father told the paper that Miller will have a statement on the matter later Monday.

The news comes exactly one week after the Broncos suspended director of pro personnel Tom Heckert and director of player personnel Matt Russell for DUI arrests.

Miller was the second overall pick in the 2011 draft. The Texas A&M product recorded 64 tackles and 11 1/2 sacks in his rookie season and was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The 24-year-old Miller built on his impressive rookie campaign by posting 68 tackles and 18 1/2 sacks in 2012.

The Broncos face the Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles in the first four weeks of the 2013 season.
