Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox activated pitcher Jake
Peavy from the 15-day disabled list Friday and announced that the veteran
right-hander will start Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves.
Peavy was placed on the DL on June 6, two days after the former National
League Cy Young Award winner sustained a fracture of his left fourth anterior
rib during an outing against the Seattle Mariners.
The 32-year-old prepared for Saturday's assignment by throwing five innings of
one-run ball in a rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham on Sunday.
Peavy went 6-4 with a 4.30 earned run average through 11 starts prior to the
injury, though he was tagged for 12 runs and 15 hits in a combined 6 1/3
innings over his two most recent appearances.
