Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 4-for-4 with five RBI
and three runs scored to lead the New York Mets to a 12-5 win over the
Milwaukee Brewers in the opener of a three-game set at Miller Park.
Juan Lagares drove in three runs and Ike Davis went 3-for-5 with two RBI
in his first game in the majors since he was demoted to Triple-A earlier this
season. John Buck also drove in a run for the Mets, winners in three of their
last four games.
Zack Wheeler (2-1) gave up three runs -- one earned -- on seven hits over five
innings to earn the win.
Carlos Gomez went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI, while Aramis Ramirez
and Juan Francisco added one RBI apiece for the Brewers, losers in eight of
their last 10 games.
Johnny Hellweg (0-2) was tagged for seven runs -- three earned -- on seven
hits and five walks in 3 2/3 innings to absorb the loss.
