St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Jose Molina and Kelly Johnson stroked
back-to-back homers as part of a five-run second inning in the Tampa Bay Rays'
8-3 win against the Chicago White Sox Friday in the opener of a three-game
series at Tropicana Field.
The early outburst provided more than enough run support for Rays right-hander
Jeremy Hellickson (8-3), who held the White Sox to one run on six hits while
fanning nine over seven solid innings to notch his fourth straight victory.
Wil Myers registered two RBI, while Desmond Jennings added three hits and two
runs scored for the Rays, who have won six of their last seven games.
Chicago starter Dylan Axelrod (3-5) failed to make it out of the second inning
after being tagged for five runs on nine hits in just 1 2/3 frames to take the
Josh Phegley plated a pair of runs for the White Sox, who have lost seven of
their last nine games.
