Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Kansas City Royals left fielder Alex Gordon left Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Indians in the sixth inning with an injury.

With two men on and no outs in the sixth, Jason Kipnis lofted a fly ball to deep left that Gordon tried to track down. As he approached the wall, Gordon turned his back and landed awkwardly, hitting his head and back against the fence as the ball fell and Kipnis raced home for the inside-the-park home run.

Gordon laid on the ground for several minutes, and eventually walked off the field under his own power with a trainer helping to support him.

The team later announced that he has a right hip contusion, along with a possible concussion. He will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

David Lough moved from right field to left field, Lorenzo Cain switched from center to right, and Jarrod Dyson took over center field and Gordon's spot in the batting order.

Gordon is batting .292 with eight homers, 46 RBI and 45 runs scored in 80 games for the Royals this season.
