Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Ryan Howard hit the go-ahead single in the 10th
inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-2,
in the finale of a four-game set at Chase Field.
Jimmy Rollins singled and Chase Utley doubled to put runners at second and
third with one out. Howard then ripped a base hit to right field off Matt
Reynolds (0-1), who hadn't allowed a run all season, to put the Phillies ahead
Utley finished the game 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and scored twice, and
Michael Young collected two hits for the Phillies, winners in back-to-back
Justin De Fratus (1-0) recorded the final out of the ninth inning to earn the
win and Jonathan Papelbon stranded a runner on second in the 10th to notch his
seventh save of the season.
Gerardo Parra hit homer and A.J. Pollock drove in a run for the D'backs, who
lost for just the third time in eight games.
