WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will spend its Thanksgiving holiday in the Bahamas, as the Demon Deacons are set to take part in the 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, which is held annually at the Atlantis Royal Towers Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas.

The eight-team tournament will be held Nov. 28-30 and includes Iowa, Kansas, Tennessee, USC, UTEP, Villanova and Xavier, in addition to the Deacons. The official bracket and television assignments will be released later this summer.

Wake Forest will host The Citadel on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the LJVM Coliseum as a play-in game to start the tournament.

This will mark Wake Forest's first-ever appearance in the Battle 4 Atlantis. ACC rival Duke won last year's tournament, while fellow ACC foe Florida State took fourth place in the tournament in 2011.

The Deacons will be playing in the Caribbean for the second-straight season after participating in the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands this past November. Wake Forest will be returning to Nassau, Bahamas, for the first time since playing two preseason games there prior to the 2006-07 season.

The Battle 4 Atlantis games are played in the Imperial Arena, a grand ballroom which is turned into a basketball venue. The half-million dollar temporary stadium boasts state-of-the-art regulation facilities at the epicenter of the world's largest open-air marine habitat complete with lavish guest accommodations, restaurants, bars, spa, lounges, waterslides and the largest casino in the Bahamas. The event drew more than 4,000 fans to the 2012 championship game.

A variety of travel packages are available for Demon Deacon fans to support their team in the Bahamas. Visit WakeForestSportsTravel.com for more information.

Wake Forest vs. the Atlantis Field

Iowa - Wake Forest is 4-0 all-time against Iowa, having defeated the Hawkeyes twice in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Deacons earned a 76-73 defeat of the Hawkeyes in their most recent meeting on Nov. 30, 2010 at the Joel Coliseum.

Kansas - The series between Wake Forest and Kansas is tied at two wins apiece. Most recently, the teams split a home-and-home series during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, with each squad winning on their home court. The Deacons and Jayhawks have also split NCAA Tournament matchups, with Wake Forest winning in 1984 and Kansas winning in the 1994 Elite Eight.

Tennessee - The Vols lead the series with the Deacons 6-2, but the teams have not met on the hardwood since the 1969-70 season when Tennessee picked up a 60-59 win. The series started in 1947-48, and Wake Forest earned wins in 1949-50 and 1959-60.

USC - Wake Forest won its only meeting with USC, picking up a 93-85 defeat of the Trojans in the 1954-55 Dixie Classic in Raleigh.

UTEP - The series between Wake Forest and UTEP is tied at one win apiece. The Miners beat the Deacons in the 1984-85 Sun Bowl Tournament. Most recently, Wake Forest defeated UTEP in the second round of the 76 Classic in Anaheim during the 2008-09 season.

Villanova - The Wildcats lead the series with the Deacons 7-2. Villanova has won three straight in the series, including a 70-57 win in the most recent meeting in the Rainbow Classic during the 1999-2000 season.
