DURHAM, N.C. - Duke's Ryan Kelly will be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks following surgery to repair his injured right foot. The Raleigh, N.C., native, suffered the injury in the first half of Duke's win against Clemson Jan. 8 and missed 13 games before returning to action against Miami March 2. Kelly's decision to return to action helped lead Duke to an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance and conclude the season with a 30-6 record.

"Ryan has been a terrific member of the Duke program throughout his career and has a bright professional future," said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "He showed amazing courage playing during the last part of our season leading us to the Eight Eight. With this surgery Ryan is expected to return to 100% and pursue his dream of playing in the NBA."

Kelly, a two-time ACC Player of the Week in 2013, turned in one of the best performances in Duke history when he returned from the injury to score a career-high 36 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, including 7-of-9 from three-point range, in a 79-76 win over No. 5 Miami. An honorable mention All-ACC performer despite playing in just five league games, Kelly averaged 12.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, while shooting 42.2 percent from three-point range and 81.2 percent from the foul line for the season.

Kelly concluded his career with 949 points, 465 rebounds and 133 blocks in 126 games. He helped Duke to a pair of ACC Championships, four in-season tournament titles and the 2010 NCAA Championship during his career. Kelly ranks fourth in the Duke record books in career winning percentage with the Blue Devils compiling a 111-15 (.881) record with him on the floor.

The surgery was successfully performed Tuesday at the Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center by Dr. James Nunley.
