GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG men's basketball junior guard Trevis Simpson (Douglas, Ga./Coffee) has earned postseason All-Southern Conference accolades in both the coaches and media voting, the league office announced Tuesday. Simpson was named to the 10-member coaches' All-Conference team and was picked as one of the five First Team All-Conference selections by the SoCon Sports Media Association.

Simpson leads the team and the league in scoring at 18.8 points per game, becoming the first player to lead the SoCon in scoring in consecutive years since Davidson's Stephen Curry (2006-09). He scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games this season, including 10 games scoring at least 20 points. Last season, he led the league in scoring at 18.3 points per game through the 30 game season, which marked the first time in program history a Spartans has led the SoCon in scoring.

Simpson, the SoCon Athlete of the Month for January, scored a school NCAA Division I era record for points in a game scored earlier this season when he poured in 41 against Chattanooga. At the time of the game, the 41 points scored were third highest by any player in Division I this season as he hit 14-of-25 from the field, including a career-high tying seven three-pointers. His 41-point performance came on the heels of a 30-point outburst against Samford giving him 71 points scored in back-to-back games, the second highest total for any player in the country this season in a two-game stretch.

This marks the second straight season that Simpson has earned First Team All-SoCon honors and the first Spartan to earn those accolades in back-to-back seasons since Kyle Hines earned the honors three straight season. His 508 points scored so far this season rank 10th most in a single season in UNCG history and enters the 2013 SoCon Tournament eighth all-time in school history in career scoring with 1,376 points.

Davidson's Jake Cohen was picked as the coaches' Player of the Year and the media's Malcolm U. Pitt Player of the Year. Samford's Tim Williams was chosen as the Freshman of the Year by both the coaches and the media. Davidson's Bob McKillop was tabbed as Coach of the Year by his peers while Elon's Matt Matheny was selected as the Anton Foy Coach of the Year by the media association.

Simpson and the Spartans enter the 2013 SoCon Tournament as the 10th seed and will face off against seventh-seeded Chattanooga. Game time is set for 6 p.m. Friday night at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville.
