GREENSBORO, N.C. -Josh Pittman pumped in 18 points in Guilford College's 93-56 men's basketball win over William Peace University Saturday in the final of the Daly Seven Hotels Invitational. Pittman earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors for his 33 points in the Quakers' two victories.

Southern Virginia University claimed the consolation contest earlier Saturday, 86-56, over Johnson & Wales (N.C.) University.

The host Quakers (2-0) scored the game's first 10 points and raced to a 50-23 halftime lead over the first-year Pacers (1-1). Peace overcame a 15-point halftime deficit Friday to earn the program's first men's basketball win, but Guilford thwarted a second comeback and led by as many as 41 in the second half.

Pittman, who also dished out a game-high six assists and had three steals, led four Quakers in double-figure scoring. Matt McCarthy and Will Freeman both scored 13 points and Jake Hopkins added 10. Guilford owned a commanding 46-28 rebounding advantage and harassed the Pacers into 24 turnovers, which led to 30 Quakers' points.
