SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Elon senior wide receiver Aaron Mellette was recognized as the Southern Conference's Offensive Player of the Month for November as announced by the league on Tuesday, Nov. 6. This marks the third career SoCon Player of the Month accolade for Mellette.
In just three October outings, the Sanford, N.C., native racked up 32 catches for 595 yards and eight touchdowns.
Mellette averaged 198.3 receiving yards per game and tied a career high with 237 receiving yards at Appalachian State, his fourth straight 100-yard outing.
He posted at least two touchdowns in six consecutive outings. Over the course of the month, Mellette advanced his status on numerous Elon and SoCon record lists.
He now has 3,966 receiving yards, the second-most in both Elon and SoCon history, while his 21 100-yard games and 41 TD grabs are also second. Mellette's 285 receptions are tied for second-most ever in the SoCon and ranks second on Elon's list.
His 15 TD grabs this year are the fourth-most ever in league history and he is just four shy of matching the SoCon's single-season mark of 19 set by Marshall's Randy Moss in 1996.
On the year, Mellette has caught 78 passes for 1,120 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Mellette and the rest of the Elon senior class will take the field at Rhodes Stadium one final time in their careers when the Phoenix hosts Samford in a 1:30 p.m. game on Saturday afternoon.
