WSSU's Maynor, Smith, Lawrence And Owens Earn CIAA Weekly Honors

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - For the fourth consecutive week, as WSSU player has been named a CIAA Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office today.

Winston-Salem State University head coach, Connell Maynor, along with record setting quarterback, Kameron Smith earned CIAA honors, to go along with offensive lineman, Markus Lawrence and defensive lineman, Donnie Owens, for their play against Livingstone College this past weekend.

Kameron Smith (5-11, 190, R-Sr, Garner, NC) continued his red hot passing, finishing the afternoon going 16 of 24 for 276 yards and seven touchdowns in WSSU's 58-0 Homecoming blowout win on Saturday. The seven touchdown passes set a new single game mark for Winston-Salem State University. This is the fifth time this season Smith has earned the CIAA Quarterback of the Week honor.

Markus Lawrence 6-4, 290, Sr, Charlotte, NC) helped guide the #2 Rams to 577 yards of offense, including 276 rushing yards in the win.

Donnie Owens (6-3, 295, Jr, Fayetteville, NC) continues to shine and be a workhorse for the WSSU defensive unit, as he finished with eight tackles, one tackle for a loss and one quarterback hurry. The Rams defensive unit held Livingstone College to 182 yards of total offense.

WSSU Rams head coach, Connell Maynor picked up his second CIAA Coach of the Week honor in guiding his #2 ranked Rams to a Homecoming win.
