East Lothian, Scotland (Sports Network) - For years, Phil Mickelson struggled playing on links golf courses. At 43-years-old, he's figure them out.

Mickelson put together one of the best final rounds in major championship history on Sunday as he fired a 5-under 66 at the Open Championship.

Mickelson, the U.S. Open runner-up for a sixth time, matched the low round of the week and his second-best score in a major.

After winning the Scottish Open last week, Mickelson had as much momentum entering the season's third major as anyone in the field. He had one of 20 under-par round on Thursday, but went 4-over par in the middle two rounds.

With four birdies in the last six holes, Mickelson has put himself into position to win his first claret jug.

Henrik Stenson is on 18, so he can't catch Mickelson. Westwood bogeyed the 16th and will need a miracle finish to force a playoff.
