Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - After resigning as Lenoir-Rhyne's football coach on Tuesday, Mike Houston reportedly will be named the new head coach at The Citadel.

Several news reports said Houston, who led Lenoir-Rhyne to the NCAA Division II national championship game this season, agreed to become The Citadel's head coach over the weekend. Footballscoop.com first reported the hiring.

Houston, 42, recently finished his third season as head coach Lenoir-Rhyne, leading the Hickory, N.C., program to a 13-2 record and the national runner-up finish to Northwest Missouri State. He was 29-8 overall with the Bears.

Houston would replace Kevin Higgins, who resigned after nine seasons at The Citadel to become the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach at Wake Forest.
