Albany, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Rob Poole dropped in a career-high 28 points
to lead the Siena Saints over the Fordham Rams, 79-69, in a non-conference
tilt at the Times Union Center.
For the Saints (5-8), Marquis Wright added 14 points, Ryan Oliver scored 12
and Brett Bisping chipped in with 10.
Mandell Thomas led the Rams (7-6) with 20 points, while Jon Severe finished
with 17 points. Branden Frazier added 13 points for the visitors and Bryan
Smith scored 10.
Fordham made 45.8 percent of its field goal tries and held Siena to just 28.6
percent shooting in the opening period, as the Rams went into halftime
After the break, the Rams struggled from the floor, shooting just 37.1 percent
and missing all but one of their 13 3-point attempts (.077). Conversely, the
Saints connected on 55.2 percent of their field goal tries in the second as
they mounted their comeback. Trailing 53-40 with just under 12 minutes to
play, the Saints went on a 22-0 run to turn a 13-point deficit into a nine-
point lead at 62-53. The Rams would get no closer than five the rest of the
way as the Saints completed the come-from-behind win.
Siena finished with a 27-18 scoring advantage at the free-throw line. The
Saints also outrebounded the Rams, 39-36.
