of-8 from the field to help the USC Trojans past the Cal State Northridge
Matadors, 95-79, at the Galen Center.
Byron Wesley added 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for USC (1-1) in
head coach Andy Enfield's first victory, while Nikola Jovanovic chipped in 11
points. All 12 Trojans who saw action scored at least one field goal.
For CSUN (1-1), Josh Greene paced all scorers with 19 points, but he was just
4-of-15 from the floor. Stephen Maxwell tallied a double-double of 17 points
and 12 boards, while Aaron Parks and Tre Hale-Edmerson put up 11 points
Although the score was tied 21-21 with less than nine minutes to play in the
first half, USC outscored CSUN over the rest of the frame, 21-10, as it
carried a 42-31 lead into halftime.
The Matadors cut their deficit to just four, 58-54, following a pair of Greene
free throws at the 12:22 mark of the second half, but they would get no closer
as the Trojans regained control with a 26-7 run.
The Trojans shot a lofty 57.1 percent from the floor in the triumph while
holding CSUN to just 33.3 percent field goal efficiency.
