Cookeville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Dennis Ogbe nearly had a double-double as
the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles registered a 74-69 victory over the Loyola-
Chicago Ramblers in non-conference action at the Eblen Center.
Ogbe finished with 13 points and nine rebounds for Tennessee Tech (1-1). Ladon
Carter had 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench and Ty Allen chipped in
11 points also as a reserve. Jeremiah Samarrippas (10 points) was the only
other starter in double figures.
Milton Doyle scored a game-high 23 points for Loyola (1-1). Christian Thomas
added 18 points and Jeff White tacked on 12.
The teams entered the locker room at halftime tied at 32-32. Tennessee Tech
shot 46.7 percent in the period. Loyola was at just 45.8 percent but it had a
slight, 12-9, edge from beyond the arc.
In the second half the Golden Eagles forced six turnovers and had a 19-10 edge
on the boards, all while shooting 50 percent from the field, to separate
themselves for the win.
Tennessee Tech had a 39-25 advantage on the glass and outscored the Ramblers,
18-6, on second chance points.
