Lawrenceville, NJ (Sports Network) - Rhamel Brown finished with 10 points, 10
rebounds, and six blocks as the Manhattan Jaspers defeated the Rider Broncs,
62-51, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tilt at Alumni Gymnasium.
Shane Richards added 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field off the bench
for Manhattan (6-14, 4-6 MAAC) as it snapped a three-game losing slide. The
win came from a very balanced effort as 10 different Jaspers made a
contribution in the scoring column.
Jonathon Thompson paced Rider (11-11, 6-4) with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting
from the field and Anthony Myles netted 10 points. The loss was the second in
a row for the Broncs.
The Jaspers managed to build a 22-12 advantage on the scoreboard by the 7:42
mark of the first half, but Rider rallied back to cut the deficit to three
points as the game progressed into the intermission. Manhattan shot an even 50
percent from the floor and converted 9-of-11 at the charity stripe en route to
its 29-26 halftime lead.
After the break, Manhattan improved to connect on 55 percent of its field goal
attempts including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. The Broncs were handed a
double-digit loss after they went 2-of-10 from 3-point range in the final 20
minutes of action.
The Jaspers enjoyed a 33-21 edge in the rebounding battle and shot a red-hot
63.6 percent from distance in the game.
