There is no good time to have your car break down, and no good time to pay for those repairs. If your car is under warranty, your cost goes way down. That's a plus. Now, you just need to get it to the shop.
Too often, you think you only have one choice to get warranty work done at the dealer. But that's not true. Allen Roy, with Roy's Automotive, said, "There's no reason you have to go to the dealer, you can have your car serviced any way you want, as long as you have the records. You don't have to keep all the records yourself, take it to a qualified garage they keep the records for you."
Don't just assume the garage is keeping records -- you need to ask. Some garages have websites so you can access your records anytime you need them. Otherwise, keep the paperwork yourself.
You can take your car for warranty repairs anywhere you want with one exception. If the dealer provides the warranty service for free, like oil changes, tire rotation, you have to get the warranty work done there. If you don't, they can refuse to honor your warranty later.
