Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Winston-Salem Police found a live Hand Grenade at a Goodwill store in Winston-Salem, Thursday.
The hand grenade was found on a desk in the Goodwill on 528 Waughtown Street.
Management told police they found it in one of their collection boxes nearly one week ago.
The Winston-Salem Police Department's Hazardous Device Unit responded and secured the grenade. They determined the grenade was live and potentially hazardous.
The grenade was detonated and rendered safe.
Any one with information about the incident is asked to call Winston-Salem Police Department at 773-7700.
A hand grenade was also found on a shelf at the Peter's Creek location in 2010. The bomb squad said the grenade was inert and contained no explosive materials.
The Winston-Salem Police Department would like to remind everyone that if a device or item is found that appears suspicious or dangerous, it should not be moved or manipulated. It should be immediately reported to local police.
