WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Forsyth County Chief Deputy Brad Stanley says deputies are searching for a man after he was mistakenly released from jail Friday.
Deputies say they are currently looking for Terrance Douglas Poindexter after his release from the Forsyth County Detention Center based on confinement paperwork.
Poindexter was originally confined in the detention center in October 2013 after his arrest for drug trafficking. During his confinement, Chief Stanley says he was served with an unrelated Warrant For Arrest for Misdemeanor Larceny.
He was taken to court on Thursday related to the Larceny charge where he received a deposition of supervised probation. According to deputies, the associated release order prepared by the Clerk's Office mistakenly directed the Sheriff's Office to release Poindexter on all charges.
On Friday, when the incorrect release order was discovered, deputies said Poindexter had already been released.
Chief Stanley says local law enforcement agencies have been searching for Poindexter since his mistaken release was discovered.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency or Crime Stoppers at (336) 727-2800.
