CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The parking management company owned by Charlotte's mayor says it will change the way it pays city taxes.
The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/1dmARXt) that Mayor Patrick Cannon's company is making changes after the newspaper raised questions about improperly filed business licenses on about 20 parking lots and decks.
E-Z Parking has licenses only for its headquarters and two parking decks in the past year. The newspaper reported the company is supposed to have a business license for each parking lot or parking deck.
Cannon and his chief operating officer Jeff Feemster said the company did not know it needed individual licenses for each location.
Feemster says the company has paid taxes on the revenue from all the parking facilities.
He says the company is obtaining licenses for each location.
