Craving a burrito and want it super fast? Just head over to a certain gas station in West Hollywood, Calif., to indulge in the wrapped-up cheesy goodness straight out of a vending machine.
Burritobox claims to offer the first burrito kiosk. The company says the goods contain no hormones or antibiotics. Its breakfast burritos contain eggs from cage-free chickens.
The vending machine, installed 10 days ago, has gotten a lot of attention, said Kasey Kashani, manager and owner of WeHo Supermart, part of the Mobil gas station on Santa Monica Boulevard.
"We never expected so much publicity," Kashani said.
A second vending machine is set to open in a 76 gas station in Los Angeles on Jan. 18.
What about the taste? LAist news site did a taste test of all five burrito varieties, which are heated for a minute and 30 seconds after you make your selection. The reviews ranged from "colorless and unappetizing" for the roasted potato, egg and cheese, to, "It wasn't transcendent, but it at least tasted how it was supposed to taste," for shredded beef.
