On Dave Linkhart's Ohio farm, things still get done the old fashioned way. Hot water to break open the ice in the watering trough.
Like much of the Midwest and Northeast, his calves are facing bitterly cold temperatures.
But Dave says good old fashioned techniques are just fine for keeping his cattle out of the worst of the cold.
There are other critters, too, on the farm. The buffalo, they love this weather, but the pigs have to be kept indoors. And the chickens, well, they prefer their coop during these wintery days on Dave Linkhart's Ohio farm.
