EAST BEND, N.C. -- The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office says two people were caught with illegal drugs after passing through a checkpoint in December.
Deputies tell WFMY News 2 they were conducting a driver's license checkpoint on Highway 67 in East Bend on December 22, 2013. Deputies found Stephen Lamar Adger, 41, of Winston-Salem's driver's license was revoked along with registration violations. During the stop, deputies said they also found cocaine and marijuana in his vehicle.
Deputies say Adger and Shanta Nikia Kimbrough, 29, of East Bend were arrested and charged with 1 count each of Felony Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana less than ½ oz., and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Adger was also charged with Driving While License revoked. Kimbrough was given a $2,500 secure bond and Adger was given a $3,5000 secure bond according to Sheriff's deputies.
Both were placed in Yadkin County Jail.
