CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina coach Roy Williams says he doesn't expect sophomore center Joel James will play in the No. 19 Tar Heels' Atlantic Coast Conference opener at Wake Forest on Sunday.
Williams said Friday he wouldn't completely rule out James, who has missed the past three games with a sprained knee ligament suffered in the first minute of the loss to Texas on Dec. 18. The school has said James would be sidelined about two weeks.
The 6-foot-10, 280-pound James started the first 10 games and is averaging 3.7 points and 4.3 rebounds, providing some size and interior toughness for the Tar Heels (10-3).
