ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Police Department is seeking additional information about a man who was charged recently in a sexual assault.

Nicholas Nacolean Harding, 43, was charged Saturday with first-degree sexual offense, first-degree kidnapping, assault on a female and assault by strangulation. The incident was reported shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday along Pond Road, according to police.

Harding described himself as a "mob boss" to the victim and threatened to have her killed if she did not comply with his requests, police said. Since the incident, detectives were able to connect Harding to three other unsuccessful incidents in which he used the same proclamations, Sgt. Dave Romick said.

The woman in Saturday's incident was followed off a city bus, beaten, and sexually assaulted, police said. Harding was located nearby and arrested.

The Asheville Police Department is requesting anyone who has had recent contact with Harding to call Detective Scott Piper at 271-6136 or the Police Department at 252-1110.
