Facebook users might notice some subtle changes to their News Feed.

The social network says they are updating the feature to highlight more "high quality content" such as news stories. Facebook says average referral traffic from Facebook to media sites has surged 170% in the past year, and users seem more drawn to the higher quality articles.

"Starting soon, we'll be doing a better job of distinguishing between a high quality article on a website versus a meme photo hosted somewhere other than Facebook when people click on those stories on mobile," reads a statement from Varun Kacholia, Facebook's engineering manager, and software engineer Minwen Ji.

Facebook will start adding related links with news stories, to help users find more content. Also, older stories generating newer comments will bump back up near the top of News Feeds.
