PILOT MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- A woman accused of seriously injuring a motorcyclist and their passenger in a hit-and-run accident is now in custody.
On Monday morning, around 10:25 a.m, the US Marshals' Office reported they arrested 27-year-old Candy Renee Maynor in Pilot Mountain. Maynor was wanted by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for Felony Hit and Run Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
According to officers, the crime happened August 28 off N.C. Highway 89 near Mt. Airy. Highway Patrol alleges Maynor crossed the center line while traveling east and she collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle rolled over and ejected the two riders.
Both victims were taken to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Troopers did not release their current condition.
Highway Patrol said they were able to identify Maynor as the driver of the car because she left the scene and abandoned her vehicle.
