Lexington, NC -- Parents of a 2-year-old are facing child abuse charges after deputies said they found drugs in the home while the child was there.
Davidson County Sheriff's deputies assisted officers with Probation and Parole on an investigation at a home on Twin Lakes Drive, when the charges were made. Investigators said they found prescription medication, Oxycodone and Hydrocodone, lying on an end table - unsecured in a bottle that the child could have accessed.
Officers said Sarah Belle Burch, the mother of the child, was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Child Abuse for allowing illegal drug use in her home, around a child. Burch was taken to the Davidson County Jail and given a $1,000 secured bond.
Davy Ray Kinley, the child's father, was also arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Child Abuse for allowing illegal drug use to take place in his home around his 2-year-old child. Kinley was also charged with Possession of Controlled Substances as well as Drug Paraphernalia.
He was taken to the Davidson County Jail and given a $2,000 secured bond for the sheriff's office charges and another $5,000 secured bond for a Probation Violation.
