Martinsville, VA-- Two men were charged after deputies said a road incident between them ended in a physical assault.
Around 12:06pm Monday, Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a fight in progress call in the 800 block of Commonwealth Boulevard in Martinsville, VA.
When they arrived they found one man with an injury from a baseball bat and another man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
During their investigation, officers learned the men had been in a road rage incident on another road. At some point during the incident, the two pulled into the parking lot of the Mountain View Shopping Center and started physically fighting.
Investigators said Matthew David Davis, 27 was shot in the leg by Robert Alonzo Beal, 45 and Beal was hit several times by Davis with a baseball bat.
Beal was treated and released for a fracture arm and Davis was treated and released for a gunshot wound to his leg.
Beal has been charged with one Misdemeanor charge of Disorderly Conduct and was released on a $5000 unsecured bond. Davis was charged with Malicious Wounding which is a felony. He was placed in jail with no bond.
