CHICAGO (CBS Chicago) -- He's nearly 80 years old, but he's thriving in a whole new 2nd career.

In 2000 he retired from his job of nearly four decades and with each passing year it has become increasingly clear to Seymour Goldberg that he made the right choice in becoming a motorcycle mechanic.

Goldberg recently celebrated his 79th birthday.

Six days a week, you can find him at his shop Seymour's BMW. Before he opened his shop, he was an architect who was a principal in his own architecture design firm.

He's also a rider with a BMW award for compiling 200 thousand miles on a bike, along with many other citations, including two for riding 1,400 miles in 30 hours--twice to Memphis and Phoenix.
