Raeford, NC -- A funeral is to be held for a member of the North Carolina National Guard killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Donna Johnson of Raeford is set to be buried Saturday in a cemetery in her hometown. The internment will follow a funeral service at the Raeford Presbyterian Church.
The 29-year-old soldier was killed Oct. 1 with two other members of the Winterville-based 514th Military Police Company. They died when a Taliban suicide bomber rammed a motorcycle packed with explosives into a joint U.S.-Afghan patrol in Khost, Afghanistan.
Johnson was a former correctional officer who joined the National Guard in 2006 and deployed to Iraq the following year.
Sgt. Jeremy Hardison of Browns Summit was buried Thursday. Sgt. Thomas Butler IV of Leland was buried Friday
