Randolph County, NC-- The Triad's first winter weather kept emergency crews busy with calls for wrecks.
In Randolph County it was more of the same, but that changed around 7:30pm. That's when the 911 center received a cell phone call from two female campers, who were lost in the Birkhead area of the Uwharrie National Forest.
The call went to Montgomery County 911 and they transferred it to Randolph County, after realizing the 23 year-old and 47 year-old were lost in that area of the forest.
Randolph County Deputies and member of Ash-Rand Search and Rescue were immediately dispatched to the area. They stayed in cell contact with the women, who told them they had food and water, but needed help walking out of the forest.
During the search crews said they could hear the women but couldn't find them. Around, 9:58pm, Rescuers located the women and escorted them out of the forest.
Emergency workers did not release the names of the women.
