Greensboro, NC -- Career Consultant Joyce Richman says she gets a lot questions about age bias. "You'd think we were in the middle of a detective show or something," she says.

Richman says some job-seekers are worried employers will think they are too young; some worry employers will think they are too old. "So for the youngster, the value add for being youthful is about being open to learning and having had a whole track record of learning having been in school. Keeping it up, I want to learn as much as I can, so I can add value to your company going forward. For the mature individual, its having had a lifetime of learning, of experience, of overcoming all kinds of difficult situations and surviving. Being able to be flexible, having very few distractions outside the home. Enable that person who is more mature to add all kinds of value to a company. So think about what you bring to the table, not what someone's trying to do to keep you from sitting there."
